Martina Organics

Hand blended in small batches, Martina Organics is an artisanal skin care range using certified organic ingredients.

Selected from both New Zealand and more exotic locales like Morocco, Japan, Africa and Israel, our botanical oils harness the power of plants that have been used by civilizations for hundreds of years.

All Martina Organics products use the finest pure, fresh and healthy ingredients. Our active ingredients don’t just feel delicious on the skin without all the nasty synthetics, preservatives or chemicals, they are proven to heal, revitalize, protect and condition your skin.

To make it even more simple, the range is unisex. The unassuming glass bottle has minimal labeling which is easily peeled off so the bottle can be re-used for something else.

Martina Organics – It’s the simplicity of nature; it’s what your skin craves. It’s all the things you want in a skincare regime.

Background and Philosophy

Martina is the name that Marta Maria Camara’s parents called her as a child. Born in Lisbon, Portugal, she moved to Wellington with her family when she was two and grew up living above the iconic 90’s café Cuba Cuba on Cuba Street. Marta warmly remembers building forts in the cafe’s DJ booth and playing pinball with her brother and sister every morning before school.

Marta learnt early on from her mother that the key to beautiful skin is a truly holistic approach and the secret to looking good comes from feeling good. Ana’s methods of eating a fresh plant based diet, drinking plenty of water, incorporating massage, surfing, yoga, and lots of sleep, go hand in hand with an organic beauty regime that considers the health of both mind and body and eschews chemicals and synthetics. The lessons from her childhood coupled with Marta’s training as a beauty therapist have been fundamental in the development of Martina Organics.

While working at Nature Unplugged in the early 2000’s, Marta began to understand the rich potential of oils like Camellia, used by Japanese Geishas for restoration and rejuvenation, Argan oil from Morocco, which holds age defying properties and natural antioxidants, Marula oil from South Africa, cherished for its ability to hydrate and reduce redness, Hemp seed oil from Canada, well known for its potent ability to provide the body with essential fatty acids like omega-6 and omega-3, and many more.

For Marta, creating superlative oils is not just a business; it’s a passion. As well as her bottled pre-mixed oils, she works one-on-one with customers to produce blends specific to their individual tastes and needs. While the range of products comes from small beginnings, Marta plans to expand into moisturises, masks, serums, supplements and more, while always keeping it easy, accessible and never compromising on quality.

Benefits of Facial Oils

For those unaware of the amazing properties of facial oils, there are a multitude of benefits. Firstly, don’t worry about feeling greasy. Botanical oils have a small molecular structure that is similar to the skin, which makes them easily absorbed. They’re rich in healthy skin essentials such as moisturising fatty acids, including omega-3, -6 and -9, which strengthen the skin’s lipid layer, preventing water loss, plumping the skin and stopping the signs of aging.

Typical skin creams contain around 70 percent water, so preservatives, chemicals and perfumes are added to many of them to eliminate bacterial growth, increase shelf life and create a nice scent. However, the additives also increase the chances of skin irritation and allergic reaction. Pure plant oils like Martina Organics, on the other hand, do not contain preservatives or synthetic fragrances, so instead of irritated, your skin is soothed and restored.

Those with oily skin and acne may shudder at the thought of spreading oil all over their face, but plant based oils are actually non-comedogenic, meaning they’re not likely to clog pores and cause breakouts. In fact traditional cleansers and exfoliators strip the skin of its natural oils, causing dehydration, which can lead to overproduction of sebum. Excess sebum can create clogged pores and eventually breakouts. Finally, if your skin is particularly dry, the richness of oils are ideal to achieve a velvety soft skin texture.

Benefits of Organic

This is a total no brainer. If you wouldn’t eat horrible chemicals and toxins in your diet, then why would you put them on your skin (the largest organ of your body) to be soaked into your bloodstream? It all ties in to the holistic approach to health that Marta advocates – To be healthy from the inside out is the key.

Mass market skincare products usually contain many harmful ingredients. Synthetic or unnatural ingredients can lead to irritation, inflammation, skin disorders, discoloration, and more. Even worse, these products often contain carcinogenic substances which are ingredients known to cause Cancer. Products made with toxins and chemicals can also cause extreme destruction to the planet. As well as being good for you, organic products are more environmentally friendly than their non-organic counterparts.

With Martina Organics you know exactly what you are getting; pure, fresh and healthy skincare products that don’t compromise on quality.

Designers often use different criteria when defining sizes. This is why we indicates the age to which the label size refers. To choose with greater accuracy, you may check, for clothing, the indicative height in centimeters corresponding to the age range that interests you. For shoes, we will recommend the most suitable size for that age.
